IVD Insights™ Market Tracking Reports are
based on data from the College of American Pathologists’
(“CAP”) Proficiency Testing (“PT”) Program, the most
extensive information source available on the instrument and
reagent systems used for patient testing in US clinical
laboratories. US laboratories are required under law by the
Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) to
participate in ongoing, certified PT programs. Approximately
90% of them participate in the CAP’s program, making it the
preeminent PT program in the United States. Clinical
laboratories from another 62 countries also participate in
the program.
Working with the CAP’s PT Program
management team, MDxI has supplemented these data with its
own site demographic information and organized them into
comprehensive IVD Insights™ Market Tracking Reports covering
over 360 analytes in the following sections:
The reports track manufacturer market
share, installed base of instrument systems, new instrument
placements, instrument menu utilization and other factors.
Each report is segmented by type of lab such as hospital,
reference, public health, clinic/physician office and blood
donor, as well as bed-size breaks within hospitals, annual
CLIA testing volume, with the option of custom breaks for
things such as segmentation of systems by throughput and
specified client sales regions/territories.
At a minimum, each report provides
market shares by method or test manufacturer/system for each
analyte, manufacturer installed base of systems, projections
of new instrument systems placed over the previous six
months, brand/system share changes (overall and by analyte)
from cycle to cycle including underlying churn.
Reports are provided to subscribers
every 6 months. In 2011, report delivery begins in August,
with the second cycle of data reports delivered in November.
Beginning in 2012, reports will be published every April and
October.
Compatible reports are available for
those countries outside of the US with enough participating
laboratories.
Custom reports are available that
provide detail on instrument menu utilization, instrument
portfolio segmentation, customized regional/sales
territories and other topics.
